For those of you who don’t know, I once worked as an intern for WXPN in Philadelphia. I was a production assistant for NPR’s World Cafe for close to four years, and while I was there, I also got to DJ for their indie/alternative HD radio station.
I just found out that they’ll be spinning my band tonight in the 10pm hour - and for a guy who now works in radio promotion, I can tell you there is nothing more exciting than hearing your band on your hometown radio station.
Tune in at www.xpn.org if you’re not doing anything. They’re one of the best radio stations in the country.
Ladies and Dinguses, I present to you “Criteria”, a By Surprise music video.

HOORAY!! Today marks the release of my band’s new 7” EP on Topshelf Records!! We recorded these three songs over the summer and I’m stoked to finally be sharing them with y’all. You can check out the A-side “Criteria” here, snag the whole thing off of iTunes, or pick up a copy of it on colored wax over at the By Surprise webstore!!

This Saturday, Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start, one of the greatest indie rock bands to ever come out of Philadelphia, and the band that inspired By Surprise (literally), will be playing a one-off reunion show (original lineup) to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of their debut full-length And Nothing Is #1. The show will be taking place at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, and opening the show will be Hop Along and A Great Big Pile of Leaves. It’s going to rule so much.
Check out their song “Come Away” from the Perris, CA EP, and by all means, please reblog the fucking daylights out of this post.
And here’s me 69’ing on New Years Eve with Greg from The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid To Die. Great job!
